I was born and raised in Barrington. My parents moved here with my 4 siblings in 1969 and were blessed to raise their family in our wonderful community. I went to Countryside Elementary School, Barrington Middle School (now Station), and graduated from Barrington High School – Class of ’95! I am trying to wrap my head around the fact that as I prepare for my oldest to graduate BHS this year, I am also helping to plan my 30th reunion. My husband, Chris, and I were raising our three children in Chicago when we decided it was time to make the move to the suburbs. We knew we would be lucky to settle in Barrington, close to my family, and in an historic Schoolhouse I had admired since I was a child. My three children have attended Roslyn Road Elementary, Prairie Middle School, and Barrington High School. Barrington is such a special community, and while there have been changes throughout the years, the best parts have stayed the same.
When we moved back to Barrington, I knew the best way to meet people was to volunteer and get involved with organizations that have a positive impact around our community. I joined Barrington Junior Women’s Club, I helped my family organize an annual event to benefit our nation’s veterans, and I joined the Roslyn Road PTO. My time on the PTO showed me how much volunteer work goes into supporting the children of D220. My family has always been very involved around our community, my sister was a Barrington Hills Trustee, my husband is the Cuba Township Supervisor, my mom was very involved with the Countryside PTO, and my dad serves on the Barrington Hills Board of Health. This background of service helped give me the push to run for the D220 Board of Education in 2021. Obviously this was a very difficult time in our world and, while I wanted to represent the many in our community who wanted the choice for their children to return to in-person learning, I also understood the importance of volunteer efforts that help keep our district running and I was excited to have the opportunity to serve our community on a greater level. I am thankful that my service on the D220 Board of Education has given me the opportunity to serve our entire district as I believe our schools are the heart of our community.
